Important Links representing who I am
I love Kansas State University and Willie the Wildcat! For those of you unfamiliar with the university, here is the link:
One thing that I absolutely love about Kansas State is football. I love watching the cats play football on a Saturday in the fall. While this season has not been the greatest, I have great hopes for the future! Here is the link to check out more K-State Athletics:
I also love working with kids, hence while my major is Elementary Education. Currently I am in Block B, and was placed at Morris Hill Elementary School for my practicum. The school is great, but I encourage you to check it out for yourself! Here is the link:
A great website I found!
The other day, I saw a great story on Fox News. It was about a little boy who adopted a soldier overseas. After writing letters back and forth, the little boy finally got excited about school, especially reading and writing. I was intrigued by what I saw, so I checked it out. It is a great program that provides us an opportunity to thank those serving overseas by simply sending letters of encouragement and/or care packages. I thought that it was such a great program, that I adopted two soldiers! I have already sent letters and am looking forward to hearing from them. More importantly, I love that I have the opportunity to say thank you and to make a difference in a soldier's life. I encourage all of you to check out the website and if possible adopt a soldier. It seriously will only take 10 minutes of your time a week!

A piece of my "life story"
Home for Christmas
When the year was nineteen ninety eight,
I prayed and prayed he wouldn't be late.
For my daddy was away
Gone since the month of May.
For his arrival, I could hardly wait.
Daddy was an Air Force man
Destined to defend our land.
He did as he was told.
I always thought him bold.
Even when stationed in the sand.
Christmas time was swiftly approaching.
All my time I spent hoping,
That a miracle would come my way
And Daddy would be home for Christmas Day.
I soon learned there would be no celebrating.
Dad soon called and let us know
That the Air Force would not let him go.
He would have to stay away
Leaving us alone on the Blessed Day.
Then, the military became my foe.
Sad beyond belief,
I could not let go of my grief.
I just could not understand,
All I wanted was my Air Force man.
Eventually, I was given relief.
It seemed that plans had changed.
Departures had been rearranged.
Daddy was waiting at the base,
And I couldn't wait to see his face.
The excitement made me deranged.
Upon seeing him again,
I hugged and kissed the man.
My daddy was finally home,
Allowed to rest, no more to roam.
I could not let go of his hand.
Prayers had been answered.
Even though hoping had made me tired
But Daddy was home on Christmas,
Just as glad to celebrate with us.
I learned that God had always cared.
True, Daddy was an Air Force man,
Destined to protect our land.
But on Christmas in nineteen ninety eight,
Simply being my Daddy was his fate.
I always be his biggest fan.
